JOAN MIRO (1893- 1983) is regarded as one of the most important modern masters of the 20th century. He was at the forefront of many artistic movements of his time: Fauvist, Cubist, Dadist, and most importantly, Surrealist. He was a leader of the surrealist movement, but kept a much lower profile than other members. He painted large murals to attract a huge audience. His works can be found on permanent display in many major museums worldwide.
